Prerequisite: C+ or higher in English 098, 099 LWA placement or equivalent external score
 
Description of Course:
A historical introduction to selected theories about and approaches to the study of human communication. Topics include the role of interpersonal communication in the development of the self, the origins of speech, language and image-making, theories of non-verbal and cross cultural communication and the relationship between oral face-to-face and technologically mediated communication and mass communication.
