Columbia College welcomes our new Basketball Head Coach, Nathan Money!
Nathan joined Columbia College as Head Basketball Coach and delivered his first session on Tuesday 10th September, spreading the word that Columbia would be building their Basketball ambitions over the coming year and calling old and new players to get behind the club. ...Fast forward to Tuesday 17th September, and the initial Week 1 attendance of 7 die-hard Columbians had expanded to a gym of 29 players within thirty minutes of doors opening.
Nathan first played Basketball in his hometown of Toronto and continues to be actively involved in the Metro Vancouver Basketball scene, jointly coordinating the Roundball League, within which Columbia has fielded several teams over the past couple of years. In addition to Nathan's work with Roundball, he has coached within the 'Night Hoops' Vancouver Basketball program for the last three years, a program through which he gained his formal coaching credentials.
Nathan will be working with the College Basketball club towards establishing a formal squad ahead of increased participation in educational and city-wide League opportunities. The players in attendance helped decide a new format for Columbia College Basketball sessions, with 5:00-6:30pm being dedicated to drop-in and informal player, and 6:30-8:00pm now reserved for formal coaching and skill development.
5:00-6:30pm - Informal Basketball drop-in
6:30-8:00pm - Formal Skill and Squad development
Columbia College is excited to welcome Nathan to our Athletics and Activities program. We urge all students interested in developing within the sport to attend our free sessions, held every Tuesday at Elsie Roy Elementary school. Directions, here.
