Scholarships
Columbia College Entrance Scholarship
The Columbia College Entrance Scholarship aims to support academically capable youth facing barriers by providing access to higher education. It is specifically for new applicants from regions globally where significant and systemic obstacles to higher education persist.
Columbia College Academic Scholarships
Scholarships are primarily awarded based on academic performance. Eight scholarships valued at $2,500 each are given to students enrolled in the University Transfer or Associate Degree programs, while the remaining two scholarships,
including the Gerry Brown Memorial Scholarship, are awarded to students in the Secondary Program.
The Jason Graham Memorial Scholarship
Each Winter Semester of each year, one scholarship worth $5000 is awarded to an outstanding student in the Arts in memory of a former student of Columbia College.
The John Helm Memorial Scholarship
Each Winter Semester, Columbia College awards a $5000 scholarship to an exceptional student in Mathematics or Sciences in memory of John Helm, a former Director of Admissions, Vice Principal, and long-time employee of the college.
The Gary Swanson English Preparation Scholarship
Each semester, a scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates excellence in their University Preparatory English classes, including English 098, Writing Discourse 098, and English 099.
Guard.me Scholarship for International Business Students
Each Winter Semester, Columbia College awards a $5000 scholarship to an exceptional international student studying Business. This scholarship is sponsored by guard.me, the provider of the Columbia College Student Medical Plan.
Outstanding Student Scholarship
Each Winter Semester, Columbia College awards a $5000 scholarship to an outstanding student in the University Transfer program. The recipient is nominated by two instructors and is recognized for their interest in and dedication to their studies, as well as their active participation in college activities.
Awards
Top Associate Degree Award
Each semester, Columbia College awards two $3000 awards to students with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) upon completing the requirements for an Associate of Arts/Business and another for an Associate of Science, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Classroom Appreciation Awards
Classroom Appreciation Awards will be awarded each semester to students who have excelled in specific subject areas while studying at Columbia College.
Scholars Path Awards
The Scholars Path Awards, launched in 2024, aim to address financial barriers faced by international students in pursuing their academic goals. Awarded twice annually, with up to 16 awards annually, these scholarships provide direct tuition support. They are available to current and former Columbia College students accepted into 4-year university programs in Canada. There are two award levels:
- Recipients studying at Domestic tuition rates are eligible for $10,000 in tuition support.
- Recipients paying international tuition rates are eligible for $30,000 in tuition support.
For Students Proceeding to University
Columbia College has endowed funds to provide scholarships for outstanding students who have completed their studies at Columbia College and have proceeded to Simon Fraser University or to the University of British Columbia. Interested students should contact the Scholarship Offices at these institutions to inquire about the Columbia College A.J. Mouncey Scholarship (UBC) and the Columbia College Academic Award (SFU).
