An introduction to the study of human society and social interaction. The theoretical perspectives of functionalism, conflict theory and symbolic interactionism are examined along with basic concepts such as culture. An overview of research methodology is provided, and social stratification, socialization and deviance are discussed. Students are encouraged to cultivate a ‚Äúsociological imagination‚ÄĚ while considering how human behavior is shaped by group life, and group life is affected by individuals.
