### Precalculus

Number of Credits: 3 credits

Prerequisites: BC Precalculus 11 or equivalent with a C or Math Placement Test or Math 090 with a grade of B

### Course Description

This course is designed for students, including those who may have completed BC High School Mathematics 12 or equivalent, who need to improve their background in mathematics before attempting a calculus course. Math 100 is an introductory college mathematics course designed to provide a strong background in algebra, trigonometry and analytical geometry as preparation for a calculus course.

Lines and Linear Functions, Quadratic Functions and Conics

Week 5

Exponents, Polynomials
Week 6 Rational Functions, Logarithms as Inverses of Exponential Functions, Applications of the Power Rule for Logarithms
Week 7 Applications of the Product and Quotient Rules for Logarithms, Exponential Growth
Week 8 Number e and the Natural Logarithm, Approximations and area with e and ln
Week 9 Trigonometric Functions (The Unit Circle, Radians, Cosine and Sine)
Week 10 Trigonometric Functions (Cosine and Sine, Trigonometry in Right Triangles, Trigonometric Identities)
Week 11 Trigonometric Algebra and Geometry (Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Identities, Using Trigonometry to Compute Area)
Week 12 Trigonometric Algebra and Geometry (The Law of Sines, The Law of Cosines, Double-Angle and Half-Angle Formulas, Addition and Subtraction Formulas)
