Inclusive Excellence

As part of Strategic Priority 3: Diverse and Empowered Student Voices, the College will prioritize the value of diverse backgrounds and experiences, in and outside of the classroom, to foster and support possibilities in intercultural learning.

Inclusive excellence means celebrating and amplifying contributions from diverse perspectives, places, and ways of knowing. It brings together the College’s five core values: Inclusion, Justice, Excellence, Reciprocity, and Democratic Equality, and sees the ways in which our social and cultural differences enrich our community. Striving for excellence means working together to create a place where everyone feels safe and can thrive.   

Flowing from an exploration process led by Awaken HR, and resulting Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan (2022), Columbia College is committed to ongoing review and revision of policies, structures, and practices, to continuously improve our alignment with inclusive excellence principles. Among other key partners, our faculty and staff collaborate with the team at Inclusive Excellence Strategy Solutions to facilitate both professional development and student learning opportunities.
