Tutoring Guidelines
We’re excited to support your academic journey! Please follow these important guidelines to make the most of your tutoring sessions:
-
All appointments must be booked online.
-
Bring your assignment guidelines so your tutor understands what your instructor expects.
-
Come prepared with a printed or digital copy (on your laptop) of your work. Tutors will not review assignments on cellphones.
-
Arrive with a clear question or goal—know what you want to focus on during your session.
-
Tutors are unable to offer “just two minutes” of help outside scheduled sessions. All sessions are minimum 30 minutes and must be booked in advance.
-
One student per session—group tutoring is not available. Study groups with peer tutors are available for groups.
-
Tutors will not edit your paper or generate ideas for you, but they will:
-
Provide constructive feedback
-
Highlight recurring grammar issues
-
Offer practice and strategies to improve your skills
-
Help you understand assignment instructions and instructor comments
-
Answer topic-specific questions for clarity
-
Cancellation/No-show Policy
To ensure fair access to tutoring for all students, please note the following policies:
-
Students with more than two consecutive no-shows or cancellations may have their existing bookings removed and face restrictions on future month-long appointments.
-
If you are more than 10 minutes late without notifying your tutor, your session will be marked as a no-show.
-
To cancel or reschedule a session, please click RESCHEDULE or CANCEL in your confirmation email (sent after booking an appointment). For further assistance, please contact us:
tutors@columbiacollege.ca
Thank you for respecting your tutor’s time and helping us keep appointments available for everyone.
