Volunteer for Orientation

Volunteers for Student Orientation welcome and engage with new students during Orientation Week. They are key to building a positive environment for new students and help build a friendly and inclusive CC culture.

Volunteers may be asked to assist with pre-orientation preparation such as swag bag stuffing or event setup.

• Training and coaching throughout the program
• Opportunity to network with like-minded students
• Gain more in-depth knowledge about how the college operates
• Learn about campus resources and opportunities available at CC
• Opportunity to make a positive contribution to student life at CC
• Records or references upon successful completion of commitments and expectations

• Assist with the delivery of Orientation programs
• Perform icebreakers and motivate students to interact with the group
• Provide directions to new students when they arrive on campus for the first time
• Answer any questions new students may have
• Facilitate a safe, fun and inclusive campus environment
• Engage with new students to create a positive CC culture

Approximately 19 hours between August 29 and September 4

• 4 hours training & pre-orientation preparations
• Approximately 7 hours per event day

All volunteers are required to attend the training session and both Orientation Days.

• Training on Friday, August 29
• Orientation Days on Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday, September 4 

• Must be a current UT or AD student or a recent graduate
• Maintained a minimum CGPA of 2.3 or higher and must be in good academic standing
• Reliable
• Good personal and time management skills
• Comfort with public speaking
• Positive attitude about CC
• Appreciation for diversity
• Willingness to make a difference in students’ lives
• Previous experience at Orientation (preferred, but not required)
