Columbia College has a long and proud history. Since 1936 Columbia College has offered quality educational programs designed to prepare students for university admission. These programs include a University Transfer Program that is fully integrated into the BC Transfer System, a Secondary Program that is Certified by the Province of British Columbia, and a full-time Academic Preparatory English Program that is accredited by Languages Canada. Since 2004 Columbia College has been permitted to offer Associate Degree programs under the written consent of the Minister of Advanced Education. Thousands of students, both Canadian and international, have progressed through Columbia’s programs to successful academic careers at Canadian universities such as University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and University of Victoria. Many more have completed Associate Degrees with Columbia College and used this qualification to find employment both within Canada and elsewhere.
Since April 2013, Columbia College has offered its programs in a new five-story building on Terminal Avenue, just east of Vancouver’s city centre. This building offers excellent facilities to students, including science and computer labs, lounges, a bookstore and a library. In September 2017, Columbia College will expand into a newly-renovated facility a short walk away at 333 Terminal Avenue. This new campus will be home to Columbia’s full-time English Program and the expanded High School (Secondary) Program. Students in these programs will retain full access to the facilities at the main campus.
Despite this expansion, Columbia retains its friendly, family atmosphere and remains committed to providing extensive support to students through counsellors, tutors and nurses. This means that students from overseas are given the opportunity to adjust to a Canadian lifestyle under minimal pressure, and can then move on to a major university with a much greater chance of success.
It goes without saying that Columbia College’s home, Vancouver, is widely recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful and livable cities. If you are considering a North American education, I invite you to join us in Vancouver. Let Columbia College help you spring into your future – an exciting and successful academic career.
