Employment Standards and Rights Workshop

The Migrant Workers Centre will be hosting an ‘Employment Standards and Rights” workshop for our students on November 4^th from 3:30pm – 4:30pm.  See below for more info on the workshop:

Students will learn about employment standards in BC and their rights as an employee as well as what constitutes as sexual harassment and what to do if they or someone they know experience workplace sexual harassment. Participants will also gain a better understanding of the legal options. Furthermore, the training will help participants to understand the unique vulnerability of newcomers while facing discrimination and sexual harassment. The presentation is meant to be interactive and includes a case study and time for discussion.

Some of the topics included:

1. Brief introduction to employment standards and rights in BC
2. What is workplace sexual harassment?
3. What should someone do if they face discrimination or sexual harassment? What are the legal options?
4. Case studies and discussion
